  • 8 skinless chicken thighs, or 4 skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 4 medium cloves of garlic, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 2 star anise
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon ginger, fresh minced or grated
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon molasses
