  • Cake:
  • 1 cup unsifted,unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 3/4 cups sifted (before measuring) all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup softened butter or regular margarine
  • 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • Frosting:
  • 1 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup light cream or half and half
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 cups unsifted confectioners sugar
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup chilled heavy cream for whipping
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
