Ingredients

  • 1 gal. medium cucumbers
  • 4 Tbsp. pickling spice
  • 4 Tbsp. alum
  • 4 Tbsp. salt
  • vinegar
  • 1 c. sugar to 2 c. cukes (after sliced)

Directions

    Wash cukes and pack in gallon jars.
  2. 2
    Add to each jar: pickling spice, alum and salt.
  3. 3
    Cover this with vinegar and let sit for 90 days.

    After 90 days, remove from jars and pour out vinegar. Rinse off and slice real thin.

    Add 1 cup sugar to every 2 cups cukes and set overnight.

    Stir as often as you can.

    Put in any container and pour juice over the cukes.

    Containers do not have to be sterilized or sealed.
