Alabama Pound Cake

  • 1 c. butter, at room temperature (2 sticks)
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 c. plus 3 Tbsp. unsifted cake flour
  • 1 c. whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Heat oven to 300°.

    Cream butter and sugar until well blended. Add eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition.

    Add flour alternately with cream, beginning and ending with flour. Continue beating and add almond extract and vanilla.

    Spray a 10-inch angel food cake pan with Baker's Joy (the baking spray). Spoon in batter.

    Bake at 300° for 1 1/4 hours or until cake is a light golden brown color on top.
