Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb. bacon
  • 3 large yellow onions
  • 3/4 lb. mushrooms
  • 4 lb. ground chuck
  • 3 (1 lb. 12 oz.) cans Italian-style kind tomatoes (Romano)
  • 2/3 c. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 c. red beans (1 lb. cans)
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce

    Cut up bacon coarsely.

    Slowly cook in large kettle until tender.

    Chop onions.

    Add to bacon and cook until translucent. Add meat and chili powder now.

    Cook a while and mix well.

    Add chopped mushrooms.

    Drain tomatoes and add.

    Now put in salt and beans.

    Stir mixture.

    Add sauce.

    Stir again.

    Cook on low for at least one hour.
