Ingredients

  • 1 can tomato soup (undiluted)
  • 1 c. water or red wine
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 lb. beef chuck, trimmed and cubed
  • 3 medium carrots, cut in 1-inch slices
  • 6 white boiling onions or quartered yellow ones
  • 4 medium potatoes, cut in chunks
  • 1/2 c. celery chunks
  • 12 large fresh mushrooms
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 bay leaf
  • fresh ground pepper

Directions

    Mix together soup with water/wine and flour until smooth. Combine with remaining ingredients in covered roasting pan.

    Bake at 275° for 4 to 5 hours.

    When ready, adjust seasoning if needed. Serve over noodles or with crunchy French bread.
