  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. chopped almonds

    Mix all but flour, baking soda and almonds together well, then incorporate the dry ingredients into the first mixture.

    Batter will be very stiff.

    Roll into 2 long rolls, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

    Wrap in wax paper.

    Chill in refrigerator overnight. Slice 3/4-inch thick slices; place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°.
