- 4 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup turbinado sugar
- 1 tablespoon grated lime zest
- 1 green cardamom pod, crushed
- 12 cup fresh key lime juice
- 2 cups ginger ale
- 1 cup water
Directions

1gather blackberries in a cheesecloth.

2bundle cloth like a hobo sack.

3squeeze sack into a pitcher, making about one cup of strong, dark, tart juice.

4discard purple mash.

5in a small saucepan, combine the sugar, 1 cup water, lime zest and cardamom pod.

6bring to a boil.

7simmer over low heat for ten minutes.

8remove cardamom pod.

9allow syrup to cool and then chill it.

10in a 1 quat pitcher, combine blackberry juice, sugar syrup and lime juice.

11chill until cold.

12just before serving, stir in the ginger ale.
