  • Topping
  • 1/4c brn sugar
  • 1/2c white sugar
  • 1/2c flour
  • 1TBS of cinnamon
  • 1tsp nutmeg
  • pinch of salt
  • Filling
  • 1/2c butter (diced into cubes)
  • 4-5 large apples sliced thin (no skin)
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts (if desired)
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1c heavy cream
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 1tsp vanilla

Directions

    In one bowl mix the 6 ingredents of topping and set aside.

    Place pie shell in a deep dish pie pan,crimp edges

    add sliced apples

    sprinkle cinnamon,dot with butter cubes, add walnuts.

    Add egg and heavy cream together then pour over apples.

    Bake for 1 hour, after the first 20 minutes sprinkle on topping and continue to bake about 40 minutes, or until the topping puffs and gets brown.
