- 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 c. dark corn syrup
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. unsifted flour
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
Directions

1Combine first 5 ingredients in a 2-quart saucepan.

2Slowly stir in water.

3Cook over medium heat, stirring until mixture comes to a boil.

4Let cool.

5Combine next 6 ingredients; mix well until crumbly.

6Pour cooled mixture into pie shell; top with crumbs.

7Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
