Amish Yeast Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2/3 c. oil
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 c. cold water
  • 3 pkg. yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. honey
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 5 lb. bag bread flour (approximately 12 c.)

Directions

    Heat milk.

    Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1 cup warm water.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine oil, honey, salt, margarine and cold water.

    Add cooled milk and yeast mixture.

    Add 3 cups flour, then gradually add remaining flour.

    Let rise until doubled in size.

    Form to make loaves, hot rolls and/or cinnamon rolls.

    Let rise, then bake at 350°.

    Freezes beautifully.
