- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 5 c. flour
- 1 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- scant 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Cut shortening into flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

3Add yeast and buttermilk.

4Stir well.

5Put mixture on floured surface.

6Knead a little and roll out.

7Cut with biscuit cutter.

8Great to make ahead; will keep 3 or 4 days in refrigerator.

9Bake at 400° approximately 10 minutes.
