  • 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk

    Sift together all dry ingredients.

    Cut in shortening until it is coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and yeast water.

    Stir quickly with fork until soft dough is formed.

    Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times.

    Roll out 1/2-inch thick; cut.
