- 5 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. solid shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.

3Cut in shortening.

4Stir in yeast and buttermilk.

5Knead until dough holds together.

6Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
