  • 5 c. flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Sift together dry ingredients.

    Cut in shortening.

    Add yeast dissolved in warm water.

    Mix until flour is moist.

    Place in a covered bowl in refrigerator.

    When ready to cook, take out amount needed.

    Roll out 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
