- 5 c. flour (plain)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. water (lukewarm)
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3/4 c. Crisco
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast (dry or cake)
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water. Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cut in shortening until well mixed.

3Add buttermilk and yeast. Work into flour with large spoon. Grease a large bowl.

4Put in dough. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Roll about 1/2-inch thick on a floured surface.

5Let rise about 1 1/2 hours. Brush with butter.

6Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.
