- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 5 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add buttermilk and yeast mixture.

5Work dough only until well moistened.

6Cover and refrigerate to use as needed.

7Bake at 400° in oven for about 12 minutes.
