- 2 pkg. dry yeast (not fast active)
- 1 c. Crisco
- 5 c. Southern Biscuit self-rising flour
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 4 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. soda
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Sift dry ingredients and cut in the shortening.

3Add yeast and buttermilk.

4Cover and place in refrigerator overnight.

5Take out and knead enough to hold together.

6Roll dough into 1/2-inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter.

7Place in pan.

8Let rise for approximately 4 hours at room temperature.

9Makes 3 dozen.

10Bake at 400° for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
