- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 or 3 Tbsp. warm milk
- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 3 to 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and soda.

3Cut in shortening.

4Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk.

5Roll out on floured board.

6Cut with biscuit cutter and brush top with melted butter.

7Bake at 400° for 10 to 20 minutes.

8You must allow biscuits to rise before baking.
