Ingredients
- 2 envelopes active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 5 c. plain flour
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 sticks margarine
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Stir yeast in warm water; set aside.

2Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.

3Cut in margarine until mixture is like cornmeal.

4Stir in the buttermilk and yeast mixture.

5Blend well.

6Turn dough out on lightly floured board. Knead until smooth.

7Add flour if dough is sticky.

8Put dough in bowl; let rise 30 minutes.

9Roll dough out 2 inches thick; cut out biscuits.

10Bake 1 inch apart.

11Bake on a high rack in 400° oven for 15 minutes.
