- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 tsp. soda
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift together dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk to dry ingredients. Knead dough to hold together.

3Chill dough, covered with a towel. Put in refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight. Roll out dough about 1/2-inch thick and cut into rounds with 2-inch biscuit cutter. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
