- 5 c. plain flour
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 c. warm to lukewarm buttermilk
- 3/4 c. melted shortening/oil
Directions

1Mix dry yeast and warm water and set aside.

2Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and soda together.

3Combine yeast and melted shortening to warm buttermilk and add sifted ingredients and sugar.

4Pour this out onto floured board and knead until desired consistency.

5Roll out and cut with glass or biscuit cutters. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown.

6Makes about 36 biscuits depending on size.

7I butter the top of mine before I bake them.
