  • 5 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Mix dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Stir in yeast and buttermilk. Put in refrigerator and let rise 1 hour. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Let rise 1 hour. Bake in oven at 450° until brown. Makes 40 biscuits.
