- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water. Measure and sift dry ingredients together. Cut shortening into mixture. Add milk and yeast. Stir until well blended. Store in refrigerator about 1 hour before baking. Roll dough 1/2-inch. Cut into biscuits. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake at 450° until brown. Yields 24.
