- 5 c. flour
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 cake yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients.

2Cut in shortening thoroughly. Add buttermilk and yeast, dissolved in water.

3Mix with spoon until all flour is moistened.

4Roll out onto floured surface to 1/2 to 3/4-inch thickness.

5Cut biscuits.

6Bake at 400° on cookie sheet for 12 minutes.

7This dough will keep several weeks in the refrigerator.
