- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 to 2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. melted margarine
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Blend in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in water; let set 5 minutes.

4Add buttermilk.

5Add yeast and buttermilk to flour mixture.

6Mix well.

7Turn out on slightly floured board; roll or pat to desired thickness and cut into biscuits.

8Dip tops in melted margarine and place on lightly greased baking sheet.

9Bake at 450° for 12 minutes.
