- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 5 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve the yeast in warm water.

2Combine flour, soda, baking powder, salt and sugar.

3Cut in shortening until size of peas. Add buttermilk and then yeast mixture.

4Stir until all flour is dampened.

5Knead on floured board.

6Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.

7Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a 400° oven.

8(This dough can be stored in a tightly covered container in refrigerator for 2 weeks.)
