- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 5 c. plain flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening.

3Add yeast and milk.

4Knead enough to hold together.

5Roll dough into 1/2-inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter.
