- 5 c. sifted self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. shortening (Crisco butter flavor)
- 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Combine flour, soda and sugar; cut in shortening.

2Stir in yeast and buttermilk.

6cutting in shortening, the mixture should look like

7coarse corn meal. Cover; let rise at least 2 hours.
