- 5 c. sifted self-rising flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 5 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 2 c. buttermilk, at room temperature
- melted oleo
Directions

1Sift flour and sugar together; cut in shortening to resemble coarse cornmeal.

2Add soda to buttermilk; add to flour mixture. Beat until smooth.

3Store in refrigerator or use immediately.

4Roll and cut like Parker House rolls with melted oleo on top and on fold.

5Bake at 400° until brown.

6Yields 5 dozen.
