- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
Directions

1Cream together Crisco and sugar.

2Stir in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, soda and cream of tartar and then mix well into creamed ingredients.

3Chill overnight in refrigerator or for few hours.

4Roll in small balls about the size of hickory nut. Press down little with fork.

5Bake in a 400° oven for 8 to 10 minutes to a delicate brown.

6Loosen from pan while still warm.
