  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Combine yeast and water; set aside.

    Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and roll out on floured surface; cut as biscuits. Allow to rise in a warm dark place.

    Bake at 450° until golden. May be kept in refrigerator for up to a week.
