Anise Biscuits

  • 2 eggs
  • 5/8 c. sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. sifted pastry flour (if using a nonpastry flour, add 1/2 tsp. baking powder)
  • 1 tsp. anise seed (can substitute anise flavored extract)

Directions

    Place sugar and eggs in bowl and beat well for 10 minutes. Add flour slowly and mix thoroughly.

    Add anise seed.

    a 4-inch loaf pan and bake in moderate oven (375°) for 20 minutes.

    Remove from pan and slice into 1-inch thick slices; place slices on buttered baking dish and return to oven and cook 5 minutes on each side until brown.

    Anise seed have the flavor of licorice.
