- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 1/4 cups flour, sifted
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons anise seed
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350.

2Cream butter and cream cheese.

3Add sugar gradually.

4Beat in eggs one at a time.

5Add rest of ingredients and mix well.

6Divide dough into 2 rolls the length of the cookie sheet and 1 1/2 inch wide.

7Bake 25 minutes until light brown.

8Remove from oven and cut into slices about 3/4 inch thick.

9Place on cookie sheet cut side down.

10Return to oven and bake 10 minutes until toasted and crisp.
