  • 4 c. flour, sifted
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 Tbsp. anise seed, crushed

    Roll out 1/2 inch thick on lightly floured board.

    Cut with cookie cutter.

    Let stand, uncovered, 12 hours or at least overnight.

    Bake at 350° for 12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheets.

    Yields 3 dozen 3-inch cookies or 6 dozen 2-inch cookies.
