- 2 cups white self-rising corn meal
- 1 cup white self-rising flour
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp. oil
- melted shortening
- 2-1/4 cup buttermilk
Directions

1Heat oven to 375F.

2Grease and dust lightly a loaf pan with flour.

3Combine all dry ingredients in mixing bowl; stir in melted shortening or oil and buttermilk.

4Pour mixture in prepared pan and let set for 15 minutes.

5Bake 45 minutes.

6Cover pan with tea towel and let set.

7Cool before slicing.
