- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 7 medium apples, peeled and sliced
Directions

1Mix first 5 ingredients until crumbly.

2Press half of mixture in 9 x 12-inch pan.

3Put in apples.

4Sprinkle rest of mixture over apples.

5Press lightly.

6Sprinkle top with cinnamon.

7Bake in preheated 350° oven for 40 minutes.

8Cool.

9Cut into squares.
