- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 c. chopped apple, peeled
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour loaf pan, 9 x 5 x 3-inches.

3Mix 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.

4Stir in flour until smooth.

5Stir in apples and nuts.

6Spread in pan.

7Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon.

8Sprinkle over batter.

9Bake until toothpick in center comes out clean, 50 or 60 minutes. Remove from pan immediately.

10Cool completely before slicing. Store tightly covered.
