Apple-Cabbage Slaw

  • 4 c. shredded green cabbage
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • 4 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 4 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 apples, cored and chopped (sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent darkening)

    Discard tough outer leaves of cabbage.

    Cut into quarters and core.

    Cut into thin shreds with a knife or shred on a coarse grater.

    In large bowl, blend mayonnaise with sugar, lemon juice, milk, celery seed, salt and pepper.

    Add cabbage and mix well. Chill several hours.

    Add apples just before serving.
