Apple-Cheese Bake

  • 7 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. plus 12 Tbsp. water
  • 1 c. shredded or grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice

    Toss apples in water and lemon juice.

    Place in a lightly-greased baking dish (small oblong to medium Pyrex is best).

    Combine flour, sugar and salt; cut in butter until resembles coarse meal.

    Sprinkle flour mixture over apples.

    Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35 minutes before removing from oven; sprinkle cheese cheese on top.

    Serve.
