  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 4 c. water
  • 1 x cinnamon stick
  • 1 whl clove
  • 6 slc bread
  • 3 x apples -- peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. blanched almonds
  • 8 ounce Monterey jack cheese -- cubed

    Combine brown sugar, water, cinnamon stick, and clove in saucepan; heat to boiling.

    Reduce heat and simmer till syrupy.

    Throw away cinnamon stick and clove.

    In 12- x 8 inch baking dish, arrange half the bread cubes; cover with layer of half the apples, raisins, almonds, and cheese.

    Repeat layers.

    Pour syrup over all.

    Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 min.
