Apple Cinnamon Walnut Bread

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. warm water
  • 1 1/4 c. warm milk
  • 1/2 stick (1/4 c.) butter (soft)
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 orange rind
  • 2 grated apples (medium)
  • 1 c. ground walnuts
  • 2 c. whole-wheat flour
  • 4 c. white flour

Directions

    Mix yeast, sugar and warm water.

    Proof 5 minutes.

    Add warm milk, butter, cinnamon, baking soda, orange rind, apples and walnuts.

    Add flours.

    Knead 10 minutes.

    Let rise until double. Divide into two.

    Roll into rectangle.

    Add 1/2 cup raisins soaked in Grand Marnier.

    Put in pans (bread).

    Let rise.

    Bake at 425° for 10 minutes and 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.
