- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 2 c. apples, finely chopped
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/3 c. milk
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Melt butter in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. In a saucepan, heat sugar and water until the sugar dissolves. Cut shortening into flour until particles are like fine crumbs. Add milk and stir with a fork until dough leaves the side of the bowl.

3Turn out on a lightly floured board.

4Knead just until smooth.
