  • 8 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored, sliced thin
  • 14 cup water
  • 14 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups old fashion Quaker Oats (not steel cut)
  • 12 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 8 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    Preheat oven to 350.

    9x12 baking dish : spray with nonstick spray.

    Combine all filling ingredients in a large bowl.

    Stir until evenly coated.

    Place evenly in bottom of baking dish.

    In a medium bowl, Combine all ingredients, mix well.

    Sprinkle evenly over apple mixture.

    Bake 30-35 minutes or until fruit it tender.

    Notes: Baking time may vary depending on how thick you slice the apples.

    UPDATE: 10/2011 I have made this recipe numerous times and always add more apples than the original recipe calls for.

    It bakes down quite a bit, kinda like an apple pie does.

    If you are short on apples, downsize your baking dish and use an 8x8 and pile the apples high!
