- 2 lb. cooking apples, sliced and peeled (5 1/2 c.)
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. each: ground nutmeg and cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
Directions

1Put apples in a shallow 2-quart casserole.

2Add water. Combine sugars, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and flour.

3Cut in butter with a pastry blender.

4Spoon evenly over apples.

5Cover and bake in a preheated moderate oven (350°) for 30 minutes.

6Uncover and bake for 30 minutes longer.

7Makes 6 servings.
