  • butter (for baking dish)
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 large apples, chopped into 3/4 to 1-inch chunks
  • whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Directions

    Butter a baking dish large enough to hold apples in a shallow layer.

    Mix the salt, flour, cinnamon and sugar; work in butter. Mixture will be fairly crumbly.

    Distribute flour-sugar mixture over the top of apples.

    Bake at 375° for about 45 minutes, or until apples are done and crust is brown.

    Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
