- 2 lb. granulated sugar
- 4 c. pared, sliced tart apples
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/3 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 3 tsp. softened butter or margarine
Directions

1Mix granulated sugar with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over apples and mix lightly.

2Spread apples; mix lightly.

3Spread apples in a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.

4Sprinkle with water.

5Blend flour, salt, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar.

6Mix in butter to make a crumbly mixture.

7Spread over apples. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 40 minutes, or until lightly browned and apples are tender.
