  • 5 cooking apples
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. to 1 Tbsp. lemon juice (depending on tartness of apples)
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. butter

Directions

    Peel and slice apples in a buttered 9-inch square pan. Sprinkle spices, lemon juice and water.

    Mix sugar and flour in bowl; work in butter until mixture is crumbly.

    Spread over fruit. Bake uncovered in preheated oven at 350° for about an hour or until fruit is tender and mixture is slightly browned.

    Serve warm with whipped cream.
