- 4 c. sliced, pared and cored cooking apples
- 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Put apples into greased 1 1/2 qt. shallow baking dish.

3blend flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt with butter or margarine to a mealy consistency; sprinkle over apples. Bake 30 to 40 min. or until apples are tender and topping is slightly crusty and brown.

4Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
