- 4 large tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 1 c. graham cracker crumbs
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. grated orange rind
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- juice of 1 lemon
- whipped cream or Cool Whip
Directions

1Mix the crumbs, flour, nuts and sugars together.

2Season with orange rind, salt and spices.

3Moisten with butter.

4Cover the bottom of a lightly buttered 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish with a layer of apples.

5Scatter some of crumb mixture over the top and sprinkle with lemon juice.

6Repeat, ending with crumbs.

7Bake at 350° for 45 minutes and serve warm with whipped cream or Cool Whip.
